Social inclusion

Promoting social inclusion, poverty reduction and economic development in rural areas
The Priority at a glance: Some 14% of the population in the EU’s predominantly rural regions suffers from employment rates of less than half the EU average, and there are areas of low per-capita GDP. Much can be done to help create a wider variety of better quality jobs and an improved level of overall local development, including through information and communication technologies (ICT).
Areas of Intervention (Focus areas):
a. Facilitating diversification, creation of new small enterprises and job creation.
b. Promoting local development in rural areas.
c. Enhancing accessibility to, and use and quality of ICT in rural areas.
